• For this specific type of investment (installation of a photovoltaic system), only one APPLICATION can be submitted by each eligible individual and/or for each residence and/or for each system. Consequently, applicants of CATEGORY A1 do not have the option to submit another application, either for CATEGORY A1 or for CATEGORIES A2 and A3 of the same Grant Scheme.

• Installations in premises that are not legally used as residences (e.g. auxiliary spaces) are not subsidized.

• Houses must not be rented by a legal entity and must not be used within the context of any economic activity for a period of at least five (5) years from the date of application submission. It is clarified that houses rented from natural persons to natural persons are eligible.

• The installed capacity of the Photovoltaic System will be calculated based on the nominal power of the panels stated in the invoice and/or certificate provided by the installer, which must be in agreement with the information provided by the Distribution System Operator.

• Indicative average processing time of applications: 2-3 months. This information is non-binding and based on current data, provided that the Application submitted is complete and no issues/deficiencies have been identified.

The Grant Scheme 2024-25 provides a one-time reward (bonus) of €750 in the event that both types of investments promoted under the Scheme, i.e. installation of a photovoltaic system and installation of roof thermal insulation, have been implemented and approved for a grant within a certain timeframe for the same residence.

The bonus is granted if the following conditions are cumulatively met:

1. both applications concern Grant Schemes of the RES and EC Fund.
2. the time period between the date of submission of the two APPLICATIONS DOES NOT exceed two (2) years.
3. the APPLICATION for the investment of installation of a photovoltaic system should concern a new system installation and not an extension of an existing system.
4. the APPLICATION for the roof thermal insulation installation investment concerns the installation of thermal insulation on at least 90% of the total surface of the roof of the residence.
5. neither of the two APPLICATIONS concerns a CATEGORY aimed at vulnerable households (incl. CATEGORY 3B of the Grant Schemes implemented in the past by the RES and EC Fund).

The bonus is paid to the Applicant of the second APPLICATION, provided that the application has been submitted within the framework of this Scheme and approved for grant payment.

Please note that in order to submit an APPLICATION you must create an account in the system (if you do not already have one).

During the submission of the APPLICATION, you will be asked to attach the following documents in electronic format (scan):

1.  A recent electricity bill for the residence indicating the tariff and the Premise ID number. The bill must be in the name of the applicant.
2.  A STATEMENT from the electricity provider (EAC), stating the date of first connection of the residence to the grid (see here how you can download the STATEMENT online).
3. One of the following official documents of the residence: TITLE DEED or BUILDING PERMIT or TOWN PLANNING PERMIT
4. The first page of the NET-METERING or VIRTUAL NET-METERING AGREEMENT  concluded with an Electricity Supplier.
5. Copy of bank account statement or certification from the Bank, showing the IBAN number of the account in which the grant will be deposited in case of successful implementation.
   • It is necessary to state a bank account held solely or jointly by the Applicant.

PARTICIPATING TRADERS must directly submit the update via the electronic system, no later than ten (10) working days from the day the photovoltaic system is inspected by the DSO and connected to the grid.

During the INVESTMENT IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE, PARTICIPATING TRADERS must attach the following in electronic format (scan)

1. Detailed Invoices regarding the investment, in the name of the applicant.
   • The name of the individual to whom the invoice(s) will be issued must be the same as the Applicant's name (without reference to any other name). If the invoices have been issued in a different name from that of the Applicant, a relevant certificate must be additionally submitted, completed by both the person in whose name the invoices were issued and the Applicant.
   • The Ιnvoice(s) should contain a sufficient/detailed description and quantity of the goods/services provided. Indicatively, it should clearly specify the number and power of the installed panels, as well as the inverter.

1. I need help with the submission of my APPLICATION. Who can assist me?

Among the obligations undertaken by PARTICIPATING TRADERS, as a prerequisite for their participation in the Grant Scheme, is to adequately be informed about the provisions of the Grant Scheme and to appropriately inform and guide interested Applicants and, additionally, where necessary, to provide support to Applicants for the electronic submission of their APPLICATION.

2. Who can submit an APPLICATION for CATEGORY A1? 

Natural Persons intending to invest in the installation of a photovoltaic system in their residence according to the Scheme's provisions are eligible to apply. For CATEGORY A1 of the Grant Scheme, applicants do not need to be owners of the residence, but the electricity bill must be in their name. Each beneficiary may submit only one application.

3. Can I start implementing the investment and then submit an APPLICATION? 

YES. For CATEGORY A1, you have the option to implement the investment before submitting an APPLICATION provided that the implementation of the investment (photovoltaic system check and  connection to the grid) takes place after 25/01/2024.

4. The Invoices are not issued in my name. What can I do?

The name on the invoices must be the same as the name of the applicant (without mention of any other name). If the invoices are issued in a different name from that of the applicant or if, any other name is stated together with the applicant's name, a relevant certificate must be submitted, completed by both the person to whom the invoices were issued and the applicant.

5. I don't have a bank account in my name. Can the grant for my application be deposited into a relative's account?

No. The grant is deposited into a bank account where the applicant is the account holder or the co-account holder.

6.Can I receive a grant for a house that I am renting?

Yes, as long as the residence is rented from one natural person to another. If the residence is rented from a legal entity (e.g. a company), it is not eligible for the grant. According to the provisions of the Scheme, "residences must not be rented from a legal entity and must not be used for economic activities for a period of at least five (5) years from the date of submission of the application.

7. Can I receive a grant for an investment in my shop/auxiliary building?

No. The property where the investment will take place must be legally used as a residence, and the electricity bill of the property must show a Residential Tariff. Installations in properties that are not legally used as residences (e.g., auxiliary spaces/shops/businesses) are not subsidized.

8. Can I receive a grant for both my residence and my vacation home?

Both the primary residence and the vacation home are eligible for the grant, provided that they are legally established residences and the electricity bill of the property shows a Residential Tariff. However, note that only one APPLICATION can be submitted per beneficiary.

9. Why are new residences not subsidized?

Grant Schemes should be treated as incentives for implementing specific investments (which might not otherwise be realized) and not as allowances or gifts. Therefore, investments for which there is a legal obligation to be implemented cannot be subsidized.

Since 2017, the installation of RES in new residences is mandatory by law. Therefore, the Grant Scheme provides that only existing residences, for which the application for the building permit or the planning permit of the residence was submitted before 01.01.2017, are eligible for the installation of a photovoltaic system.

10. During the submission of the APPLICATION, I forgot to attach some documents or attached the wrong ones. What can I do? 

After the final submission of the application, any modification or submission of additional documents is not accepted. If these documents are necessary for the evaluation of the application, they will be requested by the evaluator during the assessment of the application.
